Start Your Nursing Journey with Confidence! Our Practical Nursing Prerequisite Course (PN PRQ) is your first step toward joining the UHS Practical Nursing Certificate Program. This 3-week, 80-hour hybrid course helps prepare and assess students for the rigor of nursing education. Strengthen your study habits, improve your test-taking strategies, and build foundational knowledge in healthcare communication, medical terminology, and dosage calculations.Highlights

Cost
$500 If the student passes the course and the entrance exam, the $500 will be applied towards tuition for the Practical Nursing Program.Format

Anyone applying to the UHS Practical Nursing Certificate Program. This course is required for admission and is designed to help you succeed in nursing school and beyond.What You’ll Learn

Course Structure
Week 1: Study Skills, Communication, and Time ManagementWeek 2: Medical Terminology and Human Body Systems
Week 3: Dosage Calculations and HESI Prep
Includes 3 in-person proctored exams
Attendance and Completion Requirements
- 100% attendance for in-person sessions
- Minimum 75% final score to pass
- Retake is allowed (second retake is $250, third attempt is $250 and requires a 1-year wait)
- Students are allotted one retake within a 1-year period. After the first retake, students must wait 1 year before the third attempt at no discount.
- Students must enroll within 6 months of the completion of PRQ into the Practical Nursing Certificate Program
- Students who have completed the equivalent PRQ coursework at another institution within the last 3 years may apply for a waiver of the course
