P/N Program Method of Delivery

The Practical Nursing program includes both classroom instruction and clinical practice, totaling 1344 clock hours. This will help you function effectively in acute, long-term, and ambulatory settings and provide you with a collaborative learning environment that will help you apply principles of reasoning through critical thinking. You will become a valuable member of a healthcare team in various employment settings that include nursing homes, hospitals, physicians’ offices, corporate occupational health programs, and public school systems. The PN also provides bedside care to patients, works under the direction of physicians and registered nurses (RNs), and provides nursing care that requires technical knowledge and skill. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012-13 Edition, employment in practical nursing is expected to increase 22% from 2010 to 2020.
